Dr Sanjiv Kumar is an AIIMS, New Delhi, alumnus with 41 years of experience in public health across 29 countries. His work in Public Health expands from the deserts of Rajasthan, Masai villages of Kenya, former Soviet countries in transition, conflict torn areas of Iraq, Somalia, Tajikistan and Uganda. He started as Medical Officer in Indian Army and then worked at grass root level at Primary Health Centres in Haryana and urban slums in Delhi. He taught Preventive and Social Medicine as Lecture in University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.  He then joined UNICEF and worked for 22 years as health specialist in India and as Chief of Child Survival & Development and Senior Advisor in Iraq, Kenya, Uganda and Somalia and Regional Advisor for 22 countries in Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic States. In the course of gaining a vast experience, Dr Sanjiv Kumar has published more than 100 papers in scientific and popular magazines and chapters in books. His current focus is on leadership and strategic management in health and health research.
