Gambhir Agrawal is an accomplished corporate social responsibility and social development professional serving as CSR Head at Relaxo Footwears Limited. With extensive experience spanning grassroots development initiatives, non-governmental organisations and corporate social responsibility programmes, he has developed expertise in strategic planning, programme implementation, budgeting, government liaison and community engagement. His professional mission is centred on creating sustainable and inclusive social impact by addressing critical development challenges through collaborative, community-driven interventions. He believes that corporate social responsibility should go beyond statutory commitments to become a catalyst for meaningful social transformation, empowering communities through education, healthcare, environmental conservation and livelihood development.
At Relaxo, Mr. Agrawal has played an important role in shaping and implementing the company's community development initiatives, with particular emphasis on improving access to quality education in underserved and rural communities. One of the flagship initiatives associated with his work is the Parivartan Model School Project, launched in 2018 in partnership with the education authorities in Uttarakhand. The programme adopts a holistic approach to transforming government schools by improving infrastructure, introducing digital learning facilities, developing child-friendly educational environments and strengthening the capabilities of teachers, parents and School Management Committees. A significant milestone came in 2021, when Relaxo Foundation entered into an agreement with the Uttarakhand School Education Department to extend the initiative to 32 additional government schools in Haridwar. By FY 2024–25, the programme had expanded to 104 government schools, directly benefiting approximately 8,394 students.
His CSR engagement also encompasses environmental conservation, water security, skill development and healthcare. Relaxo's initiatives include water conservation and plantation programmes in Rajasthan and Haryana, the Nayan Avoidable Blindness Project, mobile healthcare services and youth skill-development programmes. These interventions reflect an integrated approach to community development, recognising the interconnected importance of education, health, livelihoods and environmental sustainability. During FY 2024–25, the company's seven CSR initiatives across four states positively impacted approximately 3.78 lakh people, directly and indirectly.
An important recognition of this work came when Relaxo Footwears Limited received the SDG Achievers Award 2023–24 for UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education, presented by the Government of Uttarakhand, the Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance, and UNDP India. Mr. Agrawal represented Relaxo among the company officials receiving the recognition in March 2025.
