Prabhakant Jain is an accomplished corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability leader serving as general manager & CSR head at DS Group, one of India’s leading FMCG conglomerates. With over two decades of experience in the development sector and corporate social responsibility, he has built a distinguished career around designing and implementing sustainable, community-driven development initiatives. His professional mission is rooted in creating long-term social impact by addressing interconnected challenges relating to water security, rural livelihoods, education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and gender equity. He strongly advocates collaborative development models that bring together corporate organizations, grassroots institutions, government agencies, and local communities to address complex societal challenges through research, strategic planning, and effective program implementation.
Since joining DS Group in 2010, Mr. Jain has played an important role in shaping and expanding the organization’s CSR and sustainability agenda. His responsibilities encompass strategic planning, research, policy formulation, program design, implementation, partnership management, and impact assessment. One of his significant contributions has been the development of the Water Economic Zones (WEZ) initiative, launched in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in 2018. The integrated watershed development model goes beyond conventional water conservation by linking groundwater recharge, efficient irrigation, sustainable agriculture, and improved livelihoods for small and marginal farmers. The program has subsequently expanded to several states. Across its wider water conservation initiatives, DS Group has created more than one crore cubic metres of water storage and recharge capacity through over 1,300 water conservation structures.
His other notable initiatives include Creativity Adda, which encourages self-directed learning and skill development among children and young people, and Project Saamya, an innovative gender-sensitization program engaging young boys to nurture empathy, respect, and equality and challenge conventional gender stereotypes. Project Saamya has reached more than 900 young boys and has received recognition, including the Gender Equality Initiative of the Year 2022–23 honor at the Indian Social Impact Awards.
More recently, he has championed community-led initiatives in preventive healthcare, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability. These include DS Group’s Jagruk Didi menstrual hygiene awareness campaign, designed to reach approximately 4,500 women and adolescent girls across 18 villages, and community-driven water conservation efforts under Jal Sankalp Shramdan Pakhwada.
Academically, Mr. Jain holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University and a Master of Social Work from Udaipur School of Social Work. He has also undertaken executive education in strategic CSR for corporate advantage at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
His professional journey reflects a deep commitment to inclusive development, community ownership, and sustainable social transformation, with a belief that meaningful CSR must move beyond short-term interventions to create lasting improvements in people’s lives.
